General Entry Rules
The following rules are general in nature and apply to all classes. Refer to specific class for special rules. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be familiar with all rules.
1. Competition is open to the world except where otherwise specified
2. No entry fees will be charged for PRE-ENTRY, received before July 24, 2015. A fee of $3 per entry will be charged for entries received after this date. No mailing of entry form after August 1st, PO BOX will not be checked after this date.
3. Only two entries per class unless otherwise specified. No exhibit or part thereof may be entered in more than one class.
4. All entries must be made on regulation forms properly filled out. All classes use the same entry form, found on-line, by email, or in Lariat. Entry forms may be photocopied
5. Entries will be accepted from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Jeffco Fairgrounds 6th and Indiana, Exhibit hall.
Exhibitors may pick up their entries Sunday, August 9th between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. same location NO EARLY REMOVAL.
6. Articles that have previously been awarded prizes are not allowed for competition in a succeeding year. Articles must have been completed since the 2014 Fair except where noted.
7. Every entry must be made solely by the exhibitor and shall be entered and exhibited in the name of the bona fide owner.
8. Jeffco Fair Inc. assumes no responsibility for errors in entry.
9. Articles entered for competition in the Jeffco Fair may be entered into the State Fair Open Classes. Call the Jefferson County Extension office for details or log on to www.coloradostatefair.com and go to tickets, exhibitor center, and premium book.
10. Jeffco Fair Inc. will use diligence to insure safety of exhibits after arrival and placement, but in no case will the Jeffco Fair be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury of any character to any property while on the fairgrounds or at any time or place, nor be liable for or make any payment for the value thereof. Presentation of entry form by the exhibitor shall be deemed acceptance of all rules and the exhibitor thereby indemnifies Jeffco Fair Inc. from any legal proceedings in regard thereto.
11. Jeffco Fair Inc. shall reserve the right to limit entries to facilities available and cancel or divide any class. Any return of entries under this rule will be done on a non-discriminatory basis. It is the Superintendent’s or Judge’s discretion to move entries to appropriate classes.
12. The Jeffco Fair Inc. shall reserve the right to vacate, as ineligible for competition, or order the removal of any entry, which has been entered in violation of these rules.
13. It is the policy of the Jeffco Fair to provide all persons an opportunity to exhibit at the Fair without regard to race, creed, color, sex, age or other non-merit factors. Law and policies of the Jeffco Fair prohibit discrimination for or against any person for any of these non-merit factors.
14. Exhibits may not be removed prior to release day and time. Exhibitors may pick up their entries Sunday, August 9th between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Jeffco Fair is not responsible for any items left at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds after 6 p.m. August 9. Any item left after 30 days will be forfeited
15. The decisions of Judges will be final, with no appeal considered
16. Awards will be given from 1 - 10 place on an American Award system.
17. Ages are determined by age on January 1, 2015.
A) Child Class - ages 7 and younger.
B) Junior Youth Class - ages 8-11.
C) Senior Youth Class - ages 12-18.
D) Adult Class - 19 years and older.
18. Refer to individual classes for specific entry and exhibit information.
19. All entries will be judged on originality, suitability of materials, workmanship, creativity and overall effect.
20. TEAM division - Two or more people may work on and enter an item as any of the following combinations: Adult/Adult Adult/Youth Youth/Youth. Make sure that it is on the entry form as a team entry.

Also “You Made it, you Bring it” if you can’t find a category for your craft.
This year there will be a “Fairest of the Fair” award, given to the People’s choice item with the most votes.
COST: Pre-registration is FREE!!!!!!!!!!! To be pre-registered, entry forms have to be received by email or P.O. Box no later than July 24th 2015. No mailing of entry form after August 1st, PO BOX will not be checked after this date.
Walk in entries will be $3 per entry (cap of $15 per person).

PANTRY - Please use Ziplock bags for cooled breads. Do not individually wrap cookies.
Paper plates with baked goods should be placed in Ziplock bags, except cakes and pies.

C) Method of processing (I.e. pressure canner, water bath) and pounds of pressure used if food was pressure canned. D) Elevation at which processing was done. E) Exact processing time. Salsa Contest Rules:
1. All jars and glasses must be standard canning jars.
2. All jars should be clean and free of sticky areas.

4. The labels should be on the side of the jar, not on the lid
5. Recipe must be included. Please note – “extra hot”, “hot”, or “mild”
6. Must be canned within the last year.

QUILTING
Quilts are defined as having three (3) layers--a top, a batting and a backing. Quilts must be quilted through all of the (3) layers--top, batting and backing. All quilts must be completely finished. Quilts entered must have been constructed and completed within the last three (3) years.

ETHNIC ARTS
Classes: All items should be made in the fashion of the Ethnic group, of natural materials, (glass beads allowed but no plastic). All work should be done by the artisan and should be attributed to a particular tribe or regional group. Any items that were collected should be entered under “Collections“. Participants may enter up to two items per sub-class (A, B, C, etc.). These items will be placed in a display case as space permits.

500 Fabricated –rings, pendants, bracelets, etc. Created by manipulating wires, sheet metal and stones using traditional fabrication techniques such as bending, forging, sawing, soldering, etc.
501 Cast –rings, pendants, bracelets, etc. Created using traditional casting techniques such as centrifugal, vacuum and cuttlebone. No commercial waxes or casting allowed.

AMATEUR
Rules:
All photos must be original and taken within the last two years.
A participant may have up to two works entered in any or all classes in his/her division.
A photo can be shown at the Jeffco Fair only once.
ALL PHOTOS MUST BE MATTED and PREPARED WITH VELCRO (rough side) FOR HANGING. or they will be disqualified. No frames!
The photographer’s name should be on the back of each photo.
Photos will be judged on Exposure, Focus, Color Balance or B/W contrast, Focal point interest, rule of thirds, depth of field, mounting, properly attached, matte cleanly cut, overall neatness.

1. The birdhouse will be judged on creativity, practicality and construction skills
2. Birdhouses can be any size with 1 ½’” minimum entry hole size.
3. There must be a way to clean them out.
4. Birdhouses must have a perch and an interior nesting space.
5. Any weather resistant material may be used.
