Trula Lee Kendrick, 100 of Massillon, Ohio formerly of the Pond Creek Area was called home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2013 following a brief illness.

She was born July 29, 1912 the daughter of the late Ben F. and Fannie C. (Smith) Chapman. Trula was married on October 22, 1930 to Arvin B. Kendrick for 49 years before his passing on November 9, 1979. Together they raised a family of 11 children.

Along with her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by four sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry Arvin, Clinton Kermit, Henry Franklin, Terry Paul and Linda Kendrick.

Many are left to mourn her passing, including her sons, Robie L. and Gay Kendrick, Ronnie A. and Loretta Kendrick, Gene and Kathy Kendrick, Mickey B. and Marlene Kendrick, Gary M. and Loretta Kendrick, her daughters, Annetta (Mickey) Maynard and Loretta (Raymond) Stanley, three daughters-in-law, Vicki Kendrick, Shelly Kendrick, and Marsha Kendrick. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was a faithful servant of the Lord for 62 years and was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church in Canal Fulton, Ohio.

The funeral will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mikey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the Paquelet and Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 PM until 8 PM and at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry after 6 PM Wednesday.

Euna Faye Adkins 61, of Sidney, Ky. passed away Monday January 7, 2013 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born January 2, 1952 at Knott County, Ky. to the late Homer and Alene Hall Spears. She is survived by her daughters; Margie (Jason Farris) of Sidney, Ky and Omie (Allen Workman) Ward of Sidney, Ky. sisters; Mary (Harold) Sesco of Sidney, Ky. Ann (Ferrell) Sesco of Sidney, Ky. and Nancy Browning of Stone, Ky. brothers; Ray (Debbie) Spears of Sidney, Ky. Ralph (Jessica) Sidney, Ky. and Craig (Johnda) Spears of Stone, Ky.; four grandchildren, Mikie Ward, Jordan Carroll, Kameron Farris and Samantha Stell and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday January 10, 2013 at the Salem Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Peter Cave Memorial Gardens, Pigeonroost, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday night at the funeral home and after 5 PM Wednesday night at the Church with specail services both nights at 7 PM.

Jimmie Lee Lewis, 52 of Williamson, WV passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at his residence.

He was born January 1, 1961 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Arlie and Eileen Yates Lewis. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Sheila Rena Maynard and brothers, Elder and Elmer Lewis.

Survivors include three sisters, Alice Faye May of Canada, Ky., Minnie Patricia Starr of South Charleston, WV and Violet Joann Varney of Forest Hills, Ky.; three brothers, Arland Bo Lewis, Earl Lewis and Richard Keith Lewis all of Williamson, WV and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at a later date.

Mary Ann "Goldie" Bragg, 59 of Burnwell, Ky. passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.mary ann bragg.jpg

Mary Ann was born June 17, 1953 in Williamson, WV the daughter of the late James Vincent and Mae Lovace Bowling Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Christopher Ashley 'Tre' Bragg.

She was a retired x-ray technician having worked at the Appalachian Regional Hospital and Williamson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the East Williamson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chris W. Bragg of Burnwell, Ky.; mother-in-law, Delphia Bragg of Burnwell, Ky.; brother-in-law, Donald (Karen) Bragg of Lexington, Ky.; her special friend, Karen Wright of Burnwell, Ky. and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Quick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 PM Tuesday in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Carmel Fish, 89 of McAndrews, Ky. passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born July 10, 1923 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Roland T. and Chloe Hensley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Fish and a host of brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and member of the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church.

Carmel is survived by two daughters, Carmel Jean (Ray) Stanley of McAndrews, Kentucky and Debbie (Phillip) "Joe Bear" Church of McAndrews, Kentucky; four sons, George (Yvonne) Gillman of Ohio, Hobert "Hobo" (Ann) Fish of McVeigh, Kentucky, John B. Fish of Hardy, Kentucky and Douglas (Betsie) Fish of Johns Creek, Kentucky.; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren with two great grandchildren on the way.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church with Gerria Reynolds and Dennis Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 10 PM Wednesday and Thursday Evening at the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church, with special services both nights at 7 PM. At the family's request, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to R.E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Maxie Farley Norman of McCarr, Ky. and Huntington, WV passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home in Huntington, WV.maxie helen norman.jpg

Maxie was born September 23, 1912. This past September marked a most extraordinary event as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

She was the daughter of the late Robert Farley and the late Jessie DeHart Farley. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. P. "Dock" Norman and a daughter, Betty Jo Norman, son-in-law, John C. Baker, grandson, Ronald Lee Vipperman and great granddaughter, Maddie Grace Rucker; sisters, Mae Boyd, Josephine Beckett, Fonnie Hall, Ethel Varney and Jean Farley and brothers, Charley, Henry and R. L. Farley.

She is survived by two daughters, Emogene (Robert) Vipperman and Loretta Norman Baker; three grandchildren, Brenda Rucker, Bill Vipperman and William Norman Baker; nine great grandchildren, Todd and Shawn Rucker, Jodi Wright, Heather Scovel, Jeremy Vipperman, Jason and Adam Vipperman, Sarah Cusack and Rebekah Baker and fourteen great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Virginia Nichols and one brother, Roy James Farley.

Maxie was a member of Enon Baptist Church at Blackberry City. She owned and operated Norman's Grocery for many, many years, where she serviced the many needs of others in her community. Her life has been full. She savored much, Family, good friends, good times and a loved one's touch.

Funeral services will be conducted at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11 AM with Jerry McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Hatfield Cemetery.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5 until 8 PM at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Carmen Hunt, 91 of Pinsonfork, Ky. passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Williamson Memorial Hospital. carmen hunt.jpg

She was born October 23, 1921 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Tom and Edna May Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hunt; daughter, Carla Brown; son, Larry Hunt; two brothers and four sisters.

Carmen was a retired school teacher with the Pike County Board of Education having taught at several schools till she was 77 years old. She was also a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Nikki) Hunt of Belfry, Ky.; brothers, Gary Hunt of San Antonio, Texas and Jim Hunt of Panama City, Florida; sister, Ruth Gerber of California; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Werntz officiating. Entombment will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park Mausoleum, Pikeville, Ky. with grandchildren and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home Chapel with special services at 7 PM.

Frank T. Welch, 78 of Sidney, Ky. passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.thomas franklin welch.jpg

Frank was born October 30, 1934 at Neon, Ky. the son of the late R. H. and Bertie Hubbard Welch. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, R. H. Welch Jr. and Lavenna Welch; his Father and Mother-in-law, Layton and Armilda Smith; niece, Linda Gaye Ison and sister-in-law, Maggie Smith.

He was a longtime educator in Pike County having been Principal of Belfry High School from 1971 - 1998; Superintendent of Pike County Schools from 1998 till he retired June 30, 2006; he was also President of KHSAA Board in 1986, Kentucky State Secondary Principal of the Year, KASSP in 1988, Outstanding Alumni Award Hall of Fame - Morehead State University in 1999, Kentucky State Superintendent of the Year in 2004, Top Ten Superintendent of the Nation in 2005, Superintendent of the Year by KSBA Dupree Award in 2005, Honorary Doctorate Degree from Pikeville College in 2005, received the Teachers Who Make a Difference Award - University of Kentucky Department of Education, member of the Pikeville Rotary Club and the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Welch of Sidney, Ky.; daughters, Melody (Rob) Coyle and Claudine (Billy) Barrow both of Lexington, Ky.; grandsons, Clayton Thomas Coyle, Tanner Layton Barrow and Brady Alexander Barrow all of Lexington, Ky.; brother-in-lw, Claude P. (Margarette) Smith of Huddy, Ky.;brother, John H. Welch of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Ida Allen and Pearl Goode both of Neon, Ky. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11 AM at the Belfry High School Auditorium with Shawn Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. wth Rob Coyle, Billy Barrow, Clay Coyle, Brady Barrow, Tanner Barrow, Johnny Williamson, Greg Coyle, Scott Hickey and David Lester serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church, Claude Smith, John Welch, Paul Dotson, Joe Goode, Mark Brewer, Dan Scalf, Phil Scalf, John Astor Welch, Bennett Welch, Jerry Tolliver and Kirby Ison.

Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 9 PM Thursday and Friday in the Belfry High School Auditorium. There will be a special service at 7 PM Thursday night.

Charlene Bevins Pauley, 90 of Forest Hills, Ky. passed away Thursday, Jamuary 10, 2013. She was the loving wife of the late Robert W. Pauley. She was also the mother of Charlotte (Nick) Maroudas and Annette Martin.charlene pauley.jpg

Charlene was a homemaker, a loving mother, she loved to read, cook and was an avid gardener. She was dedicated to being a grandmother to Cassie (Todd) Ball, Josh (Jessica) Martin, Nicole (Tim) McNamee and Robby (Kelly) Maroudas.

She was the oldest member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church and loved to worship and fellowship with the members.

She was the only child of the late P. T. and Gnettie Elswick Bevins of Forest Hills. She married into the large Pauley family of whom she was one of the two remaining members of her generation. Left to mourn her passing is her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Pauley .

Charlene was blessed with six great grandchildren, Alexandra and Abigail Ball, Nicholas, Noah, Benjamin and Clara McNamee.
Betty Dotson was her beloved caregiver for several years. Betty made her last years a joy. She was also lovingly cared for by a neighbor, Debbie Smith, Dianee Hess and Sandy Turner.

The funeral will be Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Fitch and Steve Mickey officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley Cemetery, Forest Hills, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6 till 9 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home Chapel. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to the Forest Hills Baptist Church.

Thomas "Tommy" Hensley, 89 of Hardy, Ky. passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.thomas hensley.jpg

Tommy was born May 25, 1923 at Stone, Ky. the son of the late Mitch and Phoebe Trout Hensley. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons; sister, Hazel Reynolds and brother, Gardner Hensley.

He was retired from the Leatherwood Dairy Company, a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Floe Reynolds Hensley of Hardy, Ky.; son, Shelley (Marilyn) Hensley of Belfry, Ky.; grandsons, Larry Gene (Brandi) Hensley of Hardy, Ky. and Charles Thomas (Kerri Lee) Hensley of Richmond, Ky.; great grandchildren, Tommy Hensley, Ty Hensley and Bentlee Brooke Hensley; special nephew, Connie (Selena) Canada of Hardy, Ky.; special niece, Mary Lou Richards of Spencer, WV; ex-daughter-in-law, Lynn Hensley and Little Ronnie; special friends, Buddy Young, Joe and Ruby Slone and his brothers and sisters of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.

Jerry Webb, 58 of Huddy, Ky. passed away Sunday morning, January 13, 2013 at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 15, 1954 in Williamson, WV the son of the late Jack and Marjorie Bevins Webb. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Jackie Webb and sister, Patsy Webb.

He was self-employed by Betsy Ross Bakery. He was also of the Sharondale of Christ Faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Beth (Matt) Cline of Huddy, Ky.; one son, Jeremy Webb of Huddy, Ky.; three brothers, Jimmy Webb and Terry (Sherry) Webb of Chattaroy, WV and Bobby Webb of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jacob Cline and Mollie Cline and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held after 6 PM Monday with funeral services at 7 PM with Bob Werntz officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the funeral home.

Betty Jean White formerly of Freeburn, Ky. and longtime resident of Powell, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Lillian White of Freeburn, Ky., her twin brother, Benny of Groveport, Ohio and youngest brother, David of Ann Arbor, Michigan. betty 001.jpg

She is survived by daughters, Pamela (Kim) Banez of Westerville, Ohio and Karen (Jim) Conger of Lewis Center, Ohio, her adored grandchildren, Alyssa, Garrison, Zachary, Lillian, Aiden and Ramon. Additional survivors include her oldest brother, William (Maria) White of Ypsilanti, Michigan, her oldest sister, Navajo White Jude of Mckinney, Texas and her youngest sister, Karen White (Jim) Biliter of Majestic, Ky.

Betty was graduated from Phelps High School. She and her twin brother, Benny were the 3rd and 4th family members to graduate with perfect attendance. She attended Marshall University where she studied Business and Nursing. Her working career spanned more than 50 years. She owned her own business WHITE CLEAN and had several employees.

She was a member of the Worthington Baptist Church, Worthington, Ohio. She was an active Christian who practiced her faith by serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Sunday School Clerk and volunteered in the Soup Kitchen Ministry for the Homeless. She also served on the visitation team for homebound. She leaves to mourn her passing a large host of close friends. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, loved to bowl and was an accomplished ballroom dancer and instructor.

Visitation for family will be at 6 PM Friday, January 18 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky. and visitation for the public will be from 7 until 9 PM. Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Saturday, January 19 with Rev. Odis Blankenship and Pastor Tim Doddenhoff officiating. Special music will be provided by Pete Wolford, piano solo will be provided by Betty's granddaughter, Lillian and Rev. Odis and Debbie Blankenship.

A private family burial will be held at Belfry, Ky. after the funeral.

Norma Grace Ray Mounts, age 74, most recently residing at the Good Shepherd Nursing Facility of Phelps, Ky. went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2013.

Norma was born fourth of the seven children of the late Mary Etta Richmond and Monroe Ray of Meador, WV. She was the wife of the late William (Bill) Harrison Mounts. Bill preceded her in death in 1992. Together they had six children who still survive her: Mark (Darlene) Mounts of Hatfield Bottom, WV, Kim (Jeff) Dotson of Kimper, Ky., Rhonda Hopkins of Columbia, SC, Bruce Mounts of Hardy, Ky., Brad (Sherri) Mounts of Hardy, Ky. and Tracy (Mike) Johnson of Church Hill, TN.

Besides being a devoted Christian, Norma was proudest of her role in life as Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Along with her six children, she leaves behind eleven grandchildren; Jessica Owens, Amanda Hodge, Christy Bruner, Lisa Leedy, J.C. Willard, Dirk Willard, Gregory Hopkins, Kelly Slone, William Mounts, Tabitha Irick and Julia Irick; six great grandchildren, Hunter Weddington and Isabella Bruner, Paisley and Noah Abbott, Jacob Willard and Fiona Slone; brother, Mike Ray of Meador, WV and sisters, Stella Kennedy of Beech Creek, WV, Sue Dawson of Meador, WV and Delores Rhondelli of Iowa. Norma was also preceded in death by brother, Monroe Ray Jr. and sister, Sally May Sheffler.

But being a wonderful mother and homemaker were not her only accomplishments in life. Beside all of that, Norma also cared for several friends and loved ones with various illnesses, in and out of her home, throughout the years. She worked as a teacher's aid when her children were younger. Norma was a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ for over 50 years. She remained very active in the congregation there with teaching, singing with her beautiful alto voice in the choir and attending additional classes that were offered outside of regular Church services, until health issues and illnesses prevented her from attending. And even when she became so very ill that she became a member of the family at Good Shepherd, her soul was a beautiful and strong witness, even when her flesh was at its weakest, every single day of her life.

Norma was an inspiration and role model to all who had the privilage of knowing and loving her. She adopted her angels at Good Shephers as her extended family of children, grandchildren and siblings. She will be extremely missed by her family and host of loving friends. All of our lives will be a little emptier with her passing, but our hearts will be full of loving, precious memories and the assurance of the knowledge that our loss in Heaven's gain.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 AM in the Sharondale Church of Christ with Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow in the Coeburn Point Cemetery, Huddy, Ky. with William Mounts, Josh Slone, Cory Cisco, Eli Cisco, Richard Howell, Adam Blackburn, Marvin Taylor and Michael Brown serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Croaff, Willard Smith and Mike Hunter.

Visitation will be held after 6 PM Thursday and Friday at the Sharondale Church of Christ with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Virgil McCoy, 84 of Burnwell, Ky. passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

He was born April 7, 1939 at Burnwell, Ky. the son of the late Reese and Bessie Bevins McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hattie R. McCoy; sons, David Michael and Robert McCoy; brothers, Edward and Douglas (Pug) McCoy and sisters, Ella Brook McCoy, Flossy Blackburn and Viola Jude.

He was a retired truck driver for B. & B. Distributors.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Anne McCoy of Burnwell, Ky.; sons, Virgil Ray McCoy of Burnwell, Ky. and Vernon Richard (Lydia) McCoy of Hardy, Ky.; sister, Delphia Bragg of Burnwell, Ky.; brother, James Earl (Clarene) McCoy of Burnwell, Ky.; grandchildren, Brian Keith (Ashley) McCoy and Darrin Michael McCoy; great grandchildren, Zack McCoy and Caleb McCoy and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the McCoy Cemetery, Burnwell, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Lucille "Tinsie" Thompson Blackburn, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Friday January 18, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. lucille blackburn.jpg

She was born on November 29, 1929 at Aflex, Ky to the late Everette and Pauline Aliff Thompson. She was 83 years old. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Harold Blackburn, a daughter, Judith Gail Blackburn, two grandsons and a sister; Helen Compton.

Lucille was a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ.

She is survived by six children: two sons: Thomas (Patsy) Blackburn of Canada, Ky and Roy (Debbie) Blackburn of Glouster, Ohio, four daughters: Carol (Bob) Davis of New Albany, Ohio, Patsy Wardle of Richmond, Ky. Jean (Dean) Branham of Raccoon, Ky. and Robbie (Randy) Webb of Huddy, Ky. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Shirley Faye Dotson, 65 of Ransom, Ky. passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones, Sunday, January 20, 2013 after battling pancreatic cancer for several months.


She was born on July 30, 1947 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Ireland and Minnie West. In 1967 she married the love of her life, Raymond "Eugene" Dotson. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2012 after 45 years of marriage.shirley faye dotson.jpg

She was a retired/disabled employee of the Pike County Board of Education, where she worked as an instructional assistant at Blackberry Grade School during her years of employment. In addition to raising her two kids and helping with her grandchildren, she was a caretaker to many throughout her life and always eager to help someone in need. She was the heart of her family. A wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was a dedicated member of the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith in the Lord and strength was an inspiration to everyone around her. Shirley was well known for entertaining guests with delightful conversation, coffee and snacks. She won the hearts of many with her nurturing love and faith. Her gift of joy, compassion for others, constant smiling and joking around will never be forgotten. It was very important to her that "everyone" knew she loved them.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by brothers, Ralph West and Ireland Vernon West; twin sister, Sharon Kaye West and nephews, James West and Greg West.

Survivors include a daughter, Eugenia (Brian) Whitt of Ransom, Ky.; son, Chad (Jeannie) Dotson of Ransom, Ky.; brother, Terry West of Aflex, Ky.; sisters, Helen (Rick) Becker of Dublin, Ohio and Paula (Patrick) Olivia of Oviedo, FL; grandchildren, Briona Paige Whitt and Chasity Dawn Whitt and a host of family and friends.

Garland Yates, 79 of Williamson, WV passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born January 7, 1934 in Pike County, Ky, to the late Willie and Nola A. Centers Yates. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Yates Jr.

Tex was a graduate of Williamson High School and retired from Persinger Supply Company. He was an active member of the East Williamson Baptist Church. He was recently inducted into the Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame which was one of his most proudest moments. He served the Williamson Area as a youth football coach for fifteen years, he was an avid hunter, a fisherman and he loved the outdoors. He was a loving husband, dad and a friend to many.

Rita Ann (Leibee) (Sammons) Smith, age 72, of Pinsonfork, Kentucky (Formerly of Forest Hills, Kentucky), passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. She was born August 18, 1940, the youngest of six children born to Charles Edward and Aza (Rice) Leibee.

Mrs. Smith was a 1958 graduate of Belfry High School. Throughout most of her adult life, she was a homemaker, holding all the other jobs the word entails. She was a fantastic cook, and a talented craftsperson and artist. Later, she worked at the Williamson United Methodist Church and at Food City, South Williamson, Kentucky.

Mrs. Smith also returned to college later in life, and earned Associate degrees in Business Administration, Computer Science and Accounting from Southern West Virginia Community College. She thereafter continued her educational pursuits at the University of Pikeville (then Pikeville College), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (Grades 9-12), with minors in Computer Science and Comprehensive Business, in 1994. Following attainment of this degree, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Pike County Board of Education prior to the illnesses which ended her career. She was a member of the Victory in Jesus Church, Sidney, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald L. Leibee, Charles H. Leibee, and Milton Leibee; and one sister, Kathleen (Leibee) Burchett. She was also preceded in death by two dear mothers-in-law, Pricey (Varney) Kimberlain and Carol Maxine "Ma" Smith.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Roger L. Smith, who resides at the home. Additionally, she is survived by four children: LeeAnn (Rick) Sammons Layne of Nicholasville, Kentucky; Darrell Edward (Amy) Sammons of Crestview Hills, Kentucky; Michael Keith (Sandi) Sammons of Chattanooga, Tennessee; John Mark Sammons of Pinsonfork, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jordan Layne, Ethan Sammons, Abby Sammons, and Parker Sammons; two step-children, Tina Smith of Stone, Kentucky and Krystal (Smith) Royster of Waterloo, Indiana; three step- grandchidlren, Trentity Lee Smith, Lijah Maximus Royster, and Evie Alayna Royster. She is also survived by one brother, Johnnie Ray Leibee, of Loraine, Ohio; an especially dear niece, Judy (Leon) Griffith, Lima, Ohio; a dear sister-in-law, Nita Jackson, Forest Hills, Kentucky; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, family and friends she held dear to her heart.

The family wishes to thank all their friends and family for their prayers, visits and encouragement throughout their mother's illness.

He was a disabled county maintenance worker.

He was a member of the Gospel Revelation Tabernacle Church and NO. 1 Carrier for the Williamson Daily News. Jonah Stump of New Town was Carrier of the month for June, the Daily News senior house-to-house carrier with 21 years on the job. According to Daily News circulation manager John D. Ball, Stump serves 296 customers at New Town. He began his tenure with the Daily News when he was nine years old.

He is survived by two sisters; Maxine (Clyde) Whitt of Burnwell, Ky., and Martha Ann Hite of Columbus, Ohio, and two brothers Cecil Justice of Vero Beach, Fl., and Benny Edward Stump of Pikeville, Ky. and a host of loving family and friends.

Carmen was an employee of the Pike County Board of Education as a Head Start teacher at Southside Elementary School, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Canada Freewill Baptist Church. She was a very active member of the Pike County Democratic Women's Club where she served as President for three terms, First Vice President for three terms, Secretary for two terms, a member of the Nominating Committee and Scholarship Committee. She was also a member of the Pike County Executive Committee. Carmen touched the life of all who knew her. She loved everybody and she was loved by everybody and will definatily be missed.

Johnny Dale Walters 60, of Pinsonfork, Ky. passed away Sunday March 10, 2013 at UK Medical Center, Lexington, Ky.

He was born February 8, 1953 in Pike County, Ky. the son of Viola Hinkle Walters of Chattaroy, W.V. and the late Troy Walters. He was also preceded in death by a sister; Norma Walters.

He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the McAndrews Wesleyan Church.

Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Donna Faye Abshire Walters of Pinsonfork, Ky.; one daughter, Deshia Marion (Tony) Walters Harris of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Lacy (Teresa) Walters of Sidney, Ky.; two sisters; Naomi (Freddie) Smith of Whitesburg, Ky. and Hazel (Benny) Sammons of Chattaroy, W.V.; four grandchildren; Billy Jack Holliday, McKenzie Brooke Holliday, Anthony Tyler Harris and Emily Taylor Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday March 14, 2013 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Ralph Ferree officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Tony Harris and men of the church serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Wednesday night at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.

She was born December 4, 1928 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Robert and Emma Bostic Vipperman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Olen May; sister, Bonnie Smith; half brother, Glen Vipperman; half sisters, Enis Dotson, Inis May and Eunice Hughes and one grandson.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her children, Helen Jean Thompson of Acworth, Ga., Thomas Harold "Smiley" (Karen) May of Lascassas, TN, Connie Sue (Walter) Edwards of Pinsonfork, Ky., Cora Lyn (Charles) Anderson of Kimper, Ky. and Wilma Lea (Billy) Casey of McCarr, Ky.; sisters, Sylvia Justice, Virginia Smith and Elizabeth Vipperman; brother, Meldon Vipperman; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; special caretakers and friends, Donna Varney, Sherry Griffith and Barbara Phillips and a host of other family and friends.

He was born on September 25, 1929 at Panther, WV. He was the son of the late Walter and Berchie Bailey Stacy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Elbert, Luther, Hobert, Fred, Jay, Vexter, Walter Jr., Cecil, Don Stacy and a granddaughter, Melanie Lynn Stacy.

Lawrence was a retired N&S Railroad conductor with 42 years of service. He ws chairman of the UTU Lodge #0655 and a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ, Williamson, WV. He was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Santee Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific Theater of Operation during WWII. He was awarded several medals including the Presidential Unit Citation (CVE-29) and the WWII Victory Medal.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Vivian R. Hopkins Stacy and sons; David Lawrence (Linda) Stacy of Hendersonville, TN and Dwight Edward (Rhonda) Stacy of Toler, KY. Grandsons: Andrew (Laura) Stacy of Nashville, TN. and Dustin Edward Stacy of Toler, KY. Great-granddaughters: Evelyn Jane and Emma Katherine Stacy of Nashville, TN. He will be missed by his family, friends and railroad buddies.

Visitation will be at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home at Belfry, KY from 6 until 9 on Friday, March 15, 2013.

The funeral will be at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 P.M. with Ed Lockard officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Irvin Eugene "Gene" Trout of Winchester, KY formerly of South Williamson, KY went to be with his wife and daughter at the side of our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 15, 2013, after a long and hard fought battle of several illnesses with his family by his side. irvin eugene trout.jpg

He was born December 10, 1943.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Connie (Varney) Trout, his daughter Drema Kaye Trout, his parents and siblings.

Irvin was a member and dearly loved the First Baptist Church of Winchester for the last five years where he was able to sing briefly in the choir. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamson for several years in the past. He was very passionate about his brothers and sisters in Christ. He loved going to church and participating in church.

While in Pike County, Irvin served as a Deputy Sheriff for 13 years and was a security guard for several years at Food City and Mate Creek Security. He was also a avid member of the NRA for several years, as well as being a Kentucky Colonel.

Those he left on this earth to celebrate his wondrous life include his daughters whom he lived with for the last few years of his life, Tina (Fred) Murphy of Winchester, KY and Gina (Eddie) Tussey of South Williamson, KY. Two granddaughters, Toshia (John) Bowman of Stone, KY and Drema (Drew) Heck of Greenfield, IN; grandson, Eddie (Sonja) Tussey II of Rock Cave, WV; great-granddaughter, Frankie Delight Tussey; brother, Danny Ray Trout of Powder Springs, GA and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ. He also had numerous friends and extended family members.

As per wishes the family will receive visitors at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY on Saturday and Sunday evening at 6 PM with the funeral being Monday, March 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM at R.E Rogers Funeral Home with Bob Werntz officiating.There will be a celebration of His loving life at the First Baptist Church of Winchester, KY on Tuesday March 20, at 2PM.

In lieu of flowers, Irvin wishes were to have donations made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.

Ray Coleman, 69, of McVeigh, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his residence.

He was born October 7, 1943 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Weldon Garfield and Perlina Gannon Coleman. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Cora Lee Coleman, Dorothy Moon, Phyllis Scarberry, Ruthie May and Loretta May and brother, James A. May.

He was a retired janitor from the Pike County Board of Education.


Survivors include his granddaughter, Natasha Nicole Royal Flores of McVeigh, Ky.; brother, Johnny (Wanda) Coleman of Elkhorn City, Ky. and a half brother, Bob May of Huddy, Ky. and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2 PM at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Earl White officiating. Burial will follow in the Runyon Family Cemetery, Pinsonfork, Ky. with Delmer Francis, Kenny Allen, Hank Allen, Daniel Allen, Pete Allen and Carlos Flores serving as pallbearers.

He was born May 7, 1935, in Pike County, KY to the late Onis and Zella Justice Smith. He is also preceded in death by two brothers; Bob and Darrell Smith.

He was a coal miner having worked at Eastern Coal Company.

Hattie was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a faithful member of Christ Temple Church in Williamson.

He was a car salesman for Moore Auto Group, a member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry and attended the Stone United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Kim Keesee (James) Maynard of Turkey Creek, KY; one granddaughter, Erin (Daniel) Marcum of Turkey Creek, KY; two great grandchildren, Brayden Marcum and Addison Marcum; ex-wife, Joann Keesee of Turkey Creek, KY; two brothers, Sheriff Charles "Fuzzy" (Edith) Keesee of Phelps, KY and Alben (Josephine) Keesee of Turkey Creek, KY; one sister, Nancy Worley of McVeigh, KY; sister-in-law, Linda Keesee of Belfry, KY; one special cousin; Wood Keesee of Vanceburg, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Arland "Bo" Lewis, 64 of Williamson, WV passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV.

He was born July 5, 1948 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Arlie and Eileen Helton Lewis. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Elder Lewis, Elmer Lewis and Jimmie Lee Lewis and one sister, Shelia Rena Maynard.


Bo was a former auto mechanic.


Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Gail Smith of Turkey Creek, Ky.; ex-wife, Vonnie Lewis of Williamson, WV; sisters, Alice Faye May of Canada, Ky., Minnie Patricia Starr of South Charleston, WV and Joann Varney of Forest Hills, Ky.; brothers, Earl Lewis of Williamson, WV and Richard Keith Lewis of Rawl, WV; grandsons, Paul David Mounts, Matthew Christopher Smith and Samuel Blaine Smith and a host of other family and friends.


There will not be any visitation, according to his wishes he will be cremated.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Sellards Jr.; four brothers, Charles, Wade, Ernest and Curtis Canada and three sisters, Lola Stuart, Dixie Liebiee and Zola Montgomery.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Area Church of Christ.

Survivors include her children, Marquita Martin of Delbarton, WV, Danny Sellards and Carolyn Stanley both of Turkey Creek, Ky., James Sellards and Bennie Sellards both of North Carolina and Lisa Varney of Stone, Ky.; brother, Landon (Virginia) Canada of Johns Creek, Ky.; sister, Mattie Costner of Huntington, WV; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Joseph Crum officiating. Burial will follow in the Sellards Family Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
