We are studying about: Learning to Live like Jesus. We already spoke about the importance of the Baptism of Jesus for us, and about Overcoming temptation like Jesus. Today we’ll be talking about: “Following Jesus’ Footsteps”
The Bible says in John 1.14 that “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
If we want to follow on Jesus’ footsteps, we need to know well what He did while living on this earth, we need to feel what he felt and we need to go through what he went through, we need to live what He lived. In today’s lesson we’ll talk about 4 aspects of Jesus’ life.
1) HE ____________________________________________.
John 13.1 that: “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”
2) HE ________________________________________________.
The Bible says in Matthew 20.28 “…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
3) HE ________________________________________________.
“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross!”
Philippians 2:8
4) HE _______________________________________________.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”Mark 1:35
“After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray”. Mark 6:46
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”. Luke 5:16
“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God”. Luke 6:12
To follow Jesus’s footsteps is the most fascinating goal you could choose to run after. To follow it means to imitate, to do the same things He did. Is to live among men like Jesus lived, walking the footsteps he walked. This means: to live loving others like he loved; serving others by giving himself to others like he served; obeying God’s plan till the end and having a close relationship with God through a lifestyle of prayer. We can assure you: there’s no better life than this. To follow Jesus’s footsteps, there’s two requirements:
1) Accept Him as your _________________________________________________________________________. In case you have not done so, it’s simple! To accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the bible says:
“9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” Romans 10:9-10
2) Learn to live like __________________________________________. How do you do this, you may ask? Well, first: be part of the church activities, come to our services, don’t miss your small group meetings and get involved in a ministry at the church. When we get close to people that have an close relationship with Jesus, it would be quicker and easier to learn to live like Jesus lived. However, you must seek God daily, talk to Him, read the bible. The closer you are to Jesus, the easier it will be to follow His footsteps.
God bless you!
